Joshi sets out Bhāsarvajña's refutation of the Buddhist account of validity. Against the view that successful action establishes a cognition's truth, Bhāsarvajña objects that memory, doubt and error also prompt action, so arthakriyā cannot be the test of prāmāṇya; Joshi quotes the Nyāyabhūṣaṇa throughout.
