Who may use this

The portal is intended for researchers, students, teachers and anyone with a genuine scholarly interest in Jain literature. There is no institutional affiliation requirement and no fee.

If you are under 18, please have a parent or teacher set up the account, as they will be agreeing to these terms on your behalf.

Your account

• One account per person. Accounts are not to be shared, because the access log that lets us keep this archive open records what your account opened.
• Use an email address you actually control. It is the only way we can sign you in or reach you.
• You stay signed in until you sign out. On a shared or public computer, sign out.

Copyright

Two distinct rights sit on top of most items in this archive, and the difference matters.

The original articles

Many of the patrikas here were published decades ago and the underlying text may well have entered the public domain in India. Nothing in these terms is intended to claim a right over a work whose copyright has genuinely expired.

The scans and the refined editions

The digital reproductions are a different matter. Each scan, and especially each refined edition — re-typeset, corrected and proofread at the trust’s expense — is a new work with its own rights, held by the trust or by those who prepared it. The catalogue itself, including the indexing, transliteration and subject classification, is likewise the trust’s work.

What you may do

• Read, search and download for your own research and study.
• Quote and cite in your own scholarly work, with attribution. Every article page carries a formatted citation for exactly this.
• Print a copy for your personal use or for teaching.
• Link to any page here. Links to the portal are always welcome.

What you may not do

• Republish or redistribute the files. Point people to the article page instead — it is a permanent link, and it stays correct as the catalogue improves.
• Bulk-download or scrape the archive. Automated harvesting is not permitted. If you need a dataset for legitimate research, ask us — we would rather help than block you.
• Share the PDF links themselves. They are issued to you and expire after ten minutes; passing one on is a breach of these terms even though it will usually have stopped working.
• Use the material commercially, or as training data for a machine learning model, without the trust’s written permission.
• Remove attribution, or present the trust’s catalogue work as your own.

Accuracy of the catalogue

This archive is actively being catalogued. Titles, authors, dates, page ranges and subject classifications are entered by hand from printed originals that are themselves inconsistent — the same scholar appears under half a dozen spellings across four decades of a single journal.

We correct what we find and we welcome corrections. But for scholarly citation, verify against the scan rather than relying on our metadata. The material is provided as it is, without warranty of completeness or accuracy.

The portal itself may be unavailable at times, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Suspension

We may suspend or close an account that is scraping the archive, sharing credentials, redistributing files, or otherwise acting in a way that puts the trust’s permission to host this material at risk. Where circumstances allow, we will write to you first.

You may close your account at any time by writing to us. See the privacy policy for what happens to your information when you do.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Jaipur, Rajasthan, India have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
