भूधरदास ने पार्श्वपुराण की रचना वि० सं० 1789 में आगरा में की। लेखक प्राकृत-अपभ्रंश जैन महाकाव्यों की रोमांचक और पौराणिक शैलियों की परम्परा बताकर इसे हिन्दी का श्रेष्ठ चरित-महाकाव्य सिद्ध करते हैं। इसके उद्देश्य, हिंसा पर अहिंसा की विजय, प्रकृति-चित्रण, कमठ के उपसर्ग के वर्णन और अनुप्रास युक्त वृक्ष-सूची जैसी काव्यगत विशेषताओं का विवेचन है।
