Maan Singh weighs Subandhu's influence on Dandin against Bana's. Dandin praises Bana in the Avantisundari and takes over the Kadambari story, but never names Subandhu or the Vasavadatta; the Subandhu he does mention, freed from Bindusara's prison, is plainly a different writer.
