Shastri sets out Jain karma theory, following Umāsvāti's Praśamaratiprakaraṇa: karma as subtle matter sticking to the soul, bound by the four passions with wrong belief, non-restraint, negligence and yoga; leśyā fixing its duration; the eight karmas, ghātī and aghātī, subdivided into 97; release through vows, guptis and austerity.
