Chandarvakar sets the Saurashtra folk tale of Hothal, the swan maiden, and Odho Jam beside the myth of Urvasi and Pururavas. He works from the recensions of Zaverchand Meghani and Jivram Ajramar Gor, and traces the myth through the Rgveda, the Satapatha Brahmana and the Puranas.
