इस कथा में मगध सम्राट बिम्बसार (श्रेणिक) शिकार के समय ध्यानस्थ मुनि यशोधर पर शिकारी कुत्ते छोड़ता है, जो शान्त होकर मुनि की प्रदक्षिणा करते हैं। क्रुद्ध राजा मरा हुआ सर्प मुनि के गले में डाल देता है। बाद में रानी चेलना के साथ लौटकर वह मुनि की क्षमा और मनःपर्ययज्ञान देखकर जैनधर्म ग्रहण करता है।
