बनारसीदास के नाम से प्रचलित रूपक-काव्य 'मोह विवेक युद्ध' के कर्तृत्व की परीक्षा की गई है। लेखक ऋग्वेद, भागवत, उपमिति भवप्रपञ्च कथा और प्रबोधचन्द्रोदय से चली रूपक परम्परा तथा मल्ल, लालदास और गोपाल की हिन्दी रचनाओं का विवेचन करते हैं। तुलना के बाद वे निष्कर्ष निकालते हैं कि यह गोपाल कवि की नकल है, बनारसीदास की रचना नहीं।
