जैनधर्म के मूल सिद्धान्तों तथा दिगम्बर-श्वेताम्बर विभाजन का संक्षिप्त परिचय देकर लेखक राजस्थान में जैनधर्म के प्रसार का सिंहावलोकन करते हैं। राजपूत शासकों द्वारा जैनों का सम्मान, मन्दिर-निर्माण, महाराणा प्रताप का हीरविजय को पत्र, तथा मन्दिरों में विकसित शास्त्र भण्डारों में जैन और जैनेतर साहित्य के संरक्षण का वर्णन है।
