Mankad examines the fifth chapter of the Alankaracintamani by Ajitasena, a thirteenth-century Jain monk. He follows Bharata on nine rasas, the sthayibhavas and thirty-three vyabhicarins, but seats rasa in the actor rather than the spectator and rejects the colours and deities assigned to the rasas.
