Kalghatgi argues that rebirth follows from karma rather than being proved: Rsabha took ten lives and Mahavira thirty-six to reach tirthankarahood. He gathers the belief from palaeolithic burials, from the Orphics and Pythagoreans, and asks what parapsychology and extrasensory perception now contribute to it.
