लेख के अनुसार आर्यों के आगमन से पूर्व भारत में अहिंसा, सत्य और त्याग पर आधारित समुन्नत संस्कृति विद्यमान थी। मोहनजोदड़ो-हड़प्पा से प्राप्त पशुओं से घिरी त्रिमुख योगी-मूर्ति को पशुपति शिव के स्थान पर समवसरण-स्थित तीर्थंकर, सम्भवतः शान्तिनाथ, का अंकन माना जा सकता है। महावीर के विचार वैदिक संस्कृति से स्वतन्त्र रूप में विकसित हुए।
