ओहिरा सभाष्य तत्त्वार्थसूत्र की प्रशस्ति की प्रामाणिकता की परीक्षा करती हैं। उमास्वाति के गुरु-परम्परा, गोत्र तथा जन्मस्थान न्यग्रोधिका को वे मथुरा के अभिलेखों एवं श्वेताम्बर-दिगम्बर पट्टावलियों से मिलाती हैं, और निष्कर्ष देती हैं कि प्रशस्ति में त्रुटियाँ हैं, फिर भी उनके काल का प्राचीनतम उपयोगी प्रमाण वही है। Ohira tests whether the prasasti colophon of the Sabhasya Tattvarthasutra is authentic. She checks Umasvati's named preceptors, his gotra and his birthplace Nyagrodhika against the Mathura inscriptions and the Svetambara and Digambara pontifical lists, and concludes it carries archival error yet remains the oldest usable evidence for his date.
