विक्रम संवत् के प्रवर्तक के विषय में नहपान, कनिष्क, अय, गौतमीपुत्र शातकर्णी आदि सम्बन्धी मतों का उल्लेख कर लेखक कालकाचार्य-कथानक, गर्दभिल्ल और शकों के प्रसंग तथा वसुनन्दि श्रावकाचार की पट्टावली-गाथाओं के आधार पर वीर नि० सं० ४७० में जन्मे जैन विक्रमादित्य को प्रवर्तक मानते हैं। सम्पादकीय टिप्पणी के अनुसार संवत् विक्रम की मृत्यु से चला।
