लेखक के अनुसार सभी संघर्षों का कारण मानव-मन का आग्रह है, जिसके मूल में स्वार्थ और हिंसा हैं। जनता युद्ध नहीं चाहती, पर शासकों की स्वार्थपूर्ण राजनीति और साम्राज्य-लिप्सा युद्ध कराती है। वे अणुबम समाप्त करने, अणु-शक्ति के शान्तिपूर्ण उपयोग, पंचशील और धर्म-जाति-वर्गवाद को अपराध घोषित करने जैसे उपाय सुझाते हैं, जिनकी सफलता अहिंसा, अनाग्रह और अपरिग्रह पर निर्भर है।
