काका कालेलकरके एक लेखपर प्रतिक्रियामें लेखक कहते हैं कि वनस्पति-सेवनको पशु-हिंसाकी श्रेणीमें रखनेवाला अहिंसाका अतिवाद अन्ततः हिंसा बढ़ाता है, क्योंकि टमाटरके रसकी तुलना रक्तसे करनेपर मांसके प्रति सहज घृणा शिथिल हो जाएगी। जैन अहिंसा सूक्ष्म होते हुए भी अनेकान्त-दृष्टिसे विवेकपूर्ण और व्यवहार्य है।
