लेख में बताया गया है कि वर्तमान बिहार, अर्थात् प्राचीन मगध और विदेह, प्राग्-ऐतिहासिक काल से जैनधर्म का प्रमुख केन्द्र रहा, जहाँ बाईस तीर्थंकरों ने निर्वाण पाया। महावीर, वैशाली के चेटक, श्रेणिक बिम्बिसार आदि नरेशों द्वारा जैनधर्म के संरक्षण का आकलन करते हुए शुंगकाल में राज्याश्रय समाप्त होने से उसके ह्रास का भी उल्लेख है।
