ગુજરાતના કવિઓનુ` સંસ્કૃત સાહિત્યને મેઢુ પ્રદાન છે, તે ભટ્ટી, જિનેશ્વરસૂરિ, સૂરાચાય', હેમચંદ્ર, અમરચંદ્ર વગેરે ઉપરાંત સંસ્કૃત મહાકાવ્યના ક્ષેત્રે સરાં મહાકાવ્યો આપ્યાં છે. આ ઉપરાંત પણ અન્ય મહાકાવ્ય રચનારા કવિઓમાં સામેશ્વર (બારમી -તેરની સદી)નું સ્થાન છે. ‘સુથેાત્સવ'' એ એની ખ્યાત રચના છે. આકૃતિનું અનુશીલન એટલે કે તેનુ આલોચનાત્મક અધ્યયન આ કૃતિમાં ડી. વિભૂતિબેન ભટ્ટ આપે છે.

विभूति भट्ट का नौ-प्रकरणी अनुशीलन सोमेश्वर के महाकाव्य सुरथोत्सव के पौराणिक कथास्रोत, पूर्ववर्तियों के प्रभाव और रसनिरूपण की जाँच करता है, धर्मवीर को प्रधान रस मानकर। बेटाई प्रकरणों का क्रम बदलने को कहते हैं और पूछते हैं कि रस कितने संवादी हैं, फिर भी उन्हें सहृदय रसास्वादिका मानते हैं। Vibhuti Bhatt's nine-chapter study of Someśvara's mahākāvya Surathotsava examines its purāṇic sources, its predecessors and its rasas, taking dharmavīra as the dominant one. Betai would reorder the chapters and asks how the several rasas cohere, but holds that she has proved herself a sympathetic relisher of poetry.
