Dixit treats the eight later Upanisads - Isa, Kena, Katha, Mundaka, Prasna, Mandukya, Svetasvatara and Maitri - as a group distinct from the five old prose ones, and traces how their theistic and more systematic philosophy departs from the Chandogya and Brhadaranyaka stratum that precedes them.
